2018 Graduate Program

Applications for the 2018 graduate program open 6 June to 2 July 2017.

Graduate employment opportunities are open for positions with two lead agencies in the Northern Territory Public Sector. 

The Department of the Chief Minister and the Department of Treasury and Finance, offer Graduates the opportunity to begin their career with the Northern Territory Government (NTG) in an environment that continues their professional development and training within a supported workplace.  

The Graduate Programs within both agencies are designed to enhance the research, analytical and administrative skills that students have learnt at university; while providing an opportunity for graduates to broaden their knowledge and understanding of government operations. Graduates also develop high level work skills by undertaking project work.

Application and Selection Process

Appli​cation

To be considered for the Gradu​ate Program, applicants must ensure all sections of the application form are completed and submitted online with all required supporting attachments. Incomplete applications will not be considered.​

Short-listi​​ng

Shortlisting will be undertaken after the closing date. Senior Management will review applications and identify applicants who will be further considered. Applicants short-listed will be contacted to arrange an interview. Your nominated referees may be contacted during the short-listing period.

Interv​iews


​Short-listed applicants are interviewed by a three-member panel. The process involves a face-to-face interview and completion of a pre-interview written exercise. Interstate applicants can expect to be interviewed via video conference. At interview, applicants will have the opportunity to discuss their academic achievements, work experience to date and personal qualities. Applicants will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the agency and potential employment pathways.

Offers of Employment

Offers of employment will be sent to successful applicants. Successful applicants have two weeks to accept the offer. All applicants will be advised in writing of the outcome of the selection process. Due to the large number of applicants for this program, please allow adequate time for us to process and review all applications.

​Commence Program 15 January 2018

The induction program and mandatory training will commence on graduates first day. For interstate graduates, it is expected that all travel arrangements will be completed by this date to ensure you are ready to start on first day.​
