Superannuation Arrangements

NTGPASS is closed to employees who commence service with the Territory Government after 9 August 1999.  Employees who commence after that date are in choice of superannuation arrangements which means they can choose the superannuation fund to which the Territory Government will contribute superannuation guarantee (currently 9 per cent of salary). New employees should complete a Superannuation Fund Choice Form to advise their salaries/personnel officer the name of the superannuation fund that they want their superannuation guarantee contributions paid to.

New employees who do not return the Superannuation Fund Choice Form to their salaries/personnel officer will have their superannuation guarantee contributions paid to the Northern Territory Government’s default superannuation fund. The default superannuation fund is an external service provider and is not related to the Northern Territory Government or the Northern Territory Superannuation Office.

As of 1 January 2013, the default superannuation service provider for Northern Territory Government employees is AustralianSuper. Please note that prior to this date the default superannuation service provider was AGEST Super which merged with AustralianSuper on 1 January 2013.

If you were previously an AGEST member under the Northern Territory Government’s default superannuation arrangement, then you will be automatically transferred to AustralianSuper.
