NTGPASS is closed to employees who commence service with the Northern Territory Government after 9 August 1999. Employees who commence after that date are in choice of fund superannuation arrangements which means they can choose the superannuation fund into which the Northern Territory Government will contribute Superannuation Guarantee (currently 9.5 per cent of salary). The Superannuation Guarantee rate will remain at 9.5 per cent until 30 June 2021 and then increase by 0.5 per cent per year until it reaches 12 per cent from 1 July 2025.
New employees should complete a Superannuation Fund Choice form to advise their payroll section the name of their preferred superannuation fund. This form is available from the Department of Corporate and Information Services website or by contacting your payroll section.
Default Superannuation Fund for NT Public Sector – AustralianSuper
New employees who do not return the Superannuation Fund Choice form to their payroll area will have their Superannuation Guarantee contributions paid into the Northern Territory Government’s default superannuation fund. The default superannuation service provider for Northern Territory Government employees is AustralianSuper.
AustralianSuper is an external service provider and is not administered by the Northern Territory Superannuation Office.
